listen guys & gals - for those of you who are suggesting that this is some skin-head gone bad ... I'd say hold on. For those of you who try to suggest the opposite. Hold on. Austin, TX is not comprised of 100% guitar-playing, reefer-toking, peace-love-harmony hippies - true. We do have our fair share of haters & stereo-typical rednecks. They are just more sophisticated in their hate and have learned to do it in their Prada instead of the white hood ; )
also ... i am not opposed to folks owning a gun under responsible conditions. but i am opposed to any sort of automatic gun -- even if you state that the intended purpose is for hunting. any self-respecting hunter ought to be able to shoot their game the old fashioned way with a shot-gun. i mean, who wants to cook a dear that is all shot-up anyway! automatic guns do not belong in civilian hands - period.
when an automatic gun ends up in the hand of a deranged person, ask folks like me if i care more about the right to own guns or right to life...
as a pro-choice person; however, i find that the greatest way to honor "life" is to take care of those who are already among us : )
enough with the glorifying of shooting -- whether it is in rap music or by naming guns after a governor that shoot animals so he can show his macho prowess.
(there, i have offended the broadest spectrum possible!)
i realize that i am talking about the right to bear arms, right to life & freedome of speech. but - events like this ought to have us talking about the "big picture". Instead of these being wedge issues that get people's passions up for the benefit of politicians, we have to look at these issues as "quality of life" discussions and how rights & liberaties serve the country as a whole.
